Selous Game Reserve 1 night/ 2 days

Selous Game Reserve, one of Africa’s largest and oldest reserves in southern Tanzania, spans 50,000 square kilometers. Named after Frederick Selous, it hosts diverse wildlife in savannahs and wetlands. Despite being a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982, it faces challenges, notably poaching, leading to its endangerment listing in 2014. Controlled hunting is permitted, sparking debates. While open to tourism, certain areas restrict access. Safari tours, including boat safaris along the Rufiji River, offer glimpses of elephants, lions, and more. Ongoing efforts aim to protect Selous’ ecosystems and wildlife from threats.
